BACKGROUND
As a leading cinema chain, Vue have a responsibility to maintain their strong presence and want to ensure that they are offering leading edge services to their customers, ensuring the best possible customer experience.
They contacted L3n, based upon our reputation and pedigree in working with enterprise class networking as this forms the core of their future communications strategy and Company vision.
It is not uncommon to find legacy networks made up of a random combination of equipment, varying support contracts, expired contracts and ‘quick-fix’ solutions hastily put in place during busy growth periods.
There comes a time when a network has insufficient capacity and capability to handle the increasing boundaries of technology.

Some of the inherent problems with legacy systems are:
· Inefficiencies in performance
· Escalating costs
· Disparate support agreements
· Multiple Providers
· Random equipment from a variety of suppliers.

SOLUTION
At Vue’s request, we carried out a full review and audit of their existing infrastructure and capabilities. Our findings were then compiled and documented into a report for discussion in relation to Vue’s strategy for the future.
The result was a re-design of their communications infrastructure enabling the following benefits to be recognized:
+ By consolidating contracts for legacy systems alone, Vue made substantial savings which released the cash to fund the new infrastructure design, implementation and support thereof.
+ Equipment was standardized on specific vendors, namely Cisco and Juniper. Using best of breed equipment not only allows for easier management and the efficient support of Vue’s communications, it provides a solution which is truly scalable.
+ Specifications were agreed and designs created for different categories of Vue cinema location and a replicable ‘template’ produced.
This enables Vue to implement upgrades to their sites with ease and helps with smooth planning and efficiency, which of course aids budgeting and cost control.
+ Technology enabled infrastructure means that Vue can now support new and exciting innovations such as the rolling out of mobile ticketing to help reduce queue times during busy periods and enhance the customer experience. More exciting developments are on their way.
+ Their systems are now migrating towards being fully digitized and are easily able to support digital format films.
+ Security has been significantly increased.
+ Vue are now enjoying a high level of network resilience and redundancy.
The overall result of the project is that Vue have a network design that is innovative and totally scalable. It is capable of supporting their vision for the future and is helping them to stay at the leading edge of delivering a great night out at the Cinema for everyone.
