Ashburton Community School - A Case Study

Our relationship with Ashburton Community School began when L3n were approached to advise on an IP Telephony solution for their new state-of-the-art learning village.  The scope of the Village included housing a School and a Public Library (and other agencies).

Detailed discussions regarding Ashburton’s requirements led to increased involvement from L3n as needs and solutions were presented.  Our pedigree in Networking, coupled with our IP experience and skills, meant that not only could we provide the IP Telephony solution required, but we could also understand, advise and put forward proposals to cover the infrastructure design as well, including a Data network, Wireless Access and Security Solutions.

Obviously a project of this size and complexity was always going to be high profile, so more so than ever, it was vital that the design was scalable and could support all the technology requirements.

The fact that the Learning Village project encompassed different, but complementary elements meant that flexibility was key to the overall communications solutions to ensure that all parties’ requirements were fulfilled within the scope of the project.

During the delivery phase of the infrastructure rollout, it was important that we were able to work with the other partners involved in the project to enable smooth running of the installation and the timely delivery to meet the scheduled Opening deadline.

Whilst it is important to employ specialists, it is also valuable to be able to engage as few contracting parties as possible, which reduces some of the management and ownership issues associated with dealing with multiple suppliers.
